A Rare Southern Snow Day ❄️✨

A day of beauty and of fun…

by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan ❄️✨

Yesterday was nothing short of magical here in South and Middle Georgia. For one glorious day, we traded pine trees and pastures for a stunning winter wonderland as six inches of snow blanketed Cochran and Roddy, GA. 🌨️ The transformation was breathtaking—everything from the woods to Gum Swamp Creek and even our pond sparkled under its icy new coat of white fluff. It was a sight we don’t see often, and we soaked up every moment.

The kids, of course, couldn’t wait to dive in—quite literally! ⛄ They bundled up in their warmest clothes and spent the day building snowmen, throwing snowballs, and making snow angels. Their laughter filled the crisp air, a sound so pure and joyful that it made my heart full. Watching them enjoy the snow, something so rare for us, felt like a gift straight from above. The scenery was just as enchanting. Gum Swamp Creek, usually quiet and serene, seemed almost otherworldly under the snow’s touch. The woods behind our house transformed into a frosted wonderland, and the pond shimmered like a frozen mirror, surrounded by a world of white. We spent much of the day exploring, marveling at how different the landscape looked in this icy disguise.

It’s moments like these that remind me how beautiful God’s creation truly is. Even in unexpected weather, there’s something awe-inspiring about seeing the familiar turned into something extraordinary.

By the time the sun began to set, painting the snowy world in shades of pink and gold, we all felt a little tired but immensely grateful. As we warmed up inside with hot cocoa and cozy blankets, the memories of the day lingered, bringing a smile to our faces.

Living in Georgia, snow is such a rarity, which makes days like yesterday all the more special. I’m so thankful for this unexpected blessing and the chance to enjoy it with my family.

Did you experience the snowstorm too? I’d love to hear about your adventures or see pictures of your own winter wonderland!
