Next month, my husband, Chris, will be recognized as Conservationist of the Year for Bleckley County, Georgia, and I could not be prouder! 🌾🏆 His dedication to farming, land stewardship, and preserving our rural community makes him so deserving of this honor.
Chris is more than just a farmer—he’s a steward of the land. From sunrise to sunset, he pours his heart into growing cotton, peanuts, soybeans, corn, and cover crops like wheat and oats, ensuring that the fields he tends remain productive and sustainable for generations to come. While he farms land in both Dodge and Bleckley County, this year, he is being honored specifically for his conservation efforts in Bleckley.

A Commitment to Conservation 🌱
Chris doesn’t just farm—he protects and nurtures the land through a variety of sustainable farming practices, including: ✅ Crop Rotation – Keeping soil healthy by alternating crops to maintain nutrient balance.
✅ Cover Crops – Preventing erosion, improving soil structure, and adding nutrients naturally.
✅ Nutrient Management with Grid Sampling – Using precise data to apply only what the soil needs.
✅ Strip Tillage – Reducing soil disturbance to conserve moisture and prevent erosion.
✅ Buffer Strips – Planting protective vegetation along waterways to filter runoff and protect water quality.
✅ Contour Farming with Terraces – Reducing water runoff and soil erosion by farming along the natural land contours.
These practices don’t just make farming more sustainable—they make our entire community stronger by protecting the natural resources we all rely on. Chris doesn’t cut corners when it comes to the land; he ensures that every decision he makes balances productivity with responsibility.
A Legacy of Stewardship 🌾
Chris has always believed that farming is about more than just planting and harvesting—it’s about leaving the land better than you found it. That mindset is what makes him an exceptional farmer and conservationist.

This award is not just a recognition of his hard work—it’s a testament to his faithfulness, perseverance, and love for the land that has provided for our family and our community for generations. I have watched him work tirelessly, through good seasons and hard seasons, with an unwavering commitment to preserving what God has given us.
Celebrating This Well-Deserved Honor 🎉
I am beyond excited for Chris to receive this award, and I can’t wait to celebrate this incredible achievement with him. Conservation work is often behind-the-scenes, requiring dedication, patience, and a long-term vision. It’s not always glamorous, but it matters deeply—not just for our family, but for the future of agriculture in Bleckley County and beyond.

Chris, you are an inspiration. Your love for the land and our rural community shines in everything you do. Congratulations on this well-earned honor! 💚👨🌾🌾

🌿 Stewardship Verses 🌿
1️⃣ Genesis 2:15 (NIV) – “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”
💡 From the very beginning, God entrusted humanity with the responsibility of tending to His creation. Chris’ work in conservation aligns with this original call to care for the land.
2️⃣ 1 Corinthians 4:2 (NIV) – “Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.”
💡 Stewardship is not just about possessing resources but managing them wisely. Chris’ conservation efforts—crop rotation, cover crops, and soil preservation—are a testament to his faithfulness in caring for what God has entrusted to him.

Chris sometimes drives our most expensive vehicle home. 🙂 P.S. Please drive it home again ASAP! Our driveway is a wreck.
