Meet The First Grade Chatterbox 🎉

I’m so excited to introduce my newest children’s book, The First Grade Chatterbox, releasing *Monday, September 15, 2025!

Written by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan and Illustrated by Joshua Wichterich

Every class has one—that student who always has something to say. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s distracting, and sometimes it’s just plain sweet. Inspired by the lively spirit of first graders, this story follows a little chatterbox who learns that listening can be just as powerful as talking.

✨ A Personal Connection

This story is loosely based on my son Liam’s first and second grade experiences. Like so many kids, he had a lot to say—about everything! Along the way, he had to learn the valuable skill of listening, not just talking. Those real-life lessons shaped the heart of this book.

Here’s a glimpse at the illustrations. I fell in love with the mid-sentence cover concept, and it perfectly captures the energy of our chatterbox character.

💡 Why I Wrote This Story

After years of teaching—and being a mom—I’ve met many “chatterboxes” who fill the room with laughter, questions, and plenty of noise. I wanted to write a book that celebrates their big personalities while also showing the importance of balance—knowing when to speak and when to listen.
