Rejoicing over Found Coins

Scripture References Luke 15

Thankful Thursday

I go to read my bible lesson for today and write in my prayer journal when I happen upon a previous marking in my Bible. It’s two particular parables in Luke 15: parable of the lost coin and parable of the lost son. I read and highlighted these parables 8/4/21, and I wrote: “Lord, help me find my lost coin. I will rejoice.”

In August of ’21, I went to work and to church and to family functions, yet I was completely utterly broken and dependent on HIM. Sophia (my twenty-year-old) was very sick and had run away. I had no way to get her back or to help her although she was still a senior in high school.

I had to wait on the Lord and to completely believe that He would keep her safe and restore her mind and her body. As a Mama living without your child whether lost, run away, or kidnapped, your entire heart and soul feel like they have been ripped from your body.

I cried out to God every second of everyday for the prodigal to return. She was either missing or in and out of hospitals and random towns for 79 days. Even when she was home with us again, it was like trying to rehabilitate a wild, abused animal. We endured more drama and heartache, yet she was home and physically safe. Three years have passed, I give ALL THE GLORY TO GOD!! He took a broken person and a broken home and made it all whole. He made all the crooked places straight. In the picture below, you see I circled the word HOPE. Right now, regardless of what you are facing, there is HOPE in Jesus. There is HOPE in the promises of God. There is HOPE in the Comforter, the Holy Spirit.

Put all your burdens at the feet of Jesus, and He will carry them and you!! Father, thank you for being faithful, for being merciful, and for loving me. If you are going through Dublin, GA, today, stop by Chick-fil-A and speak to Sophia. She will be smiling and polite because my renewed and restored baby is amazing at customer service. She has a fantastic work ethic, and she loves Jesus.

Praise the HOLY name of JESUS for He has helped me find my lost coin, and today, I REJOICE for all He has done for me and for my family. “Or what woman who has ten silver coins, if she loses one does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it? When she finds it, she calls her friends and neighbors together, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found the silver coin I lost! I tell you in the same way, there is joy in the presence of God’s angels over one sinner who repents.'” (Luke 15: 8-10)
