Resting in His Righteousness, Not My Own

by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan

I have been praying 🙏 yesterday and today that Jesus would become my best friend, guiding me toward a deeper, more honest relationship with Him. Through scripture in Matthew 6 📖 and insights on Moses and the Tabernacle, He has revealed so much! Moses’ detailed description of the heavenly tabernacle connects us to Jesus in a powerful way: when He placed His blood on the mercy seat ❤️ and tore the earthly veil at His death, God made it possible for us to become a living tabernacle—the presence of God now dwells within us ✨.

But today, I felt a strong conviction 💔. Moses, who had the rare privilege of meeting God face-to-face, fell short in his obedience at Horeb. His pride and misrepresentation of the Messiah cost him entry into the Promised Land 🏞️. I, too, have struggled with pride and with accurately representing Jesus in my life, even daily at times. Today, I prayed to Jesus, asking not only to see the Promised Land but to enter into it fully 🙌. This prayer has brought up a heaviness within me, a conviction that I might never be “good enough” to enter, as though I’m standing outside, looking into the Promised Land.

Have you ever felt the weight of not being “good enough”? 😔 Have you felt your heart break 💔 at the thought of falling short, of not reflecting the heart for God you long to have? If you feel less than righteous, I understand. But let’s remind ourselves: our worthiness doesn’t come from our behavior or words. It was never about our actions. Jesus’s grace is a free gift 🎁, given to each of us despite our shortcomings. It is His nature and love that draws us, allowing us to stand as members of His bride, clothed in His righteousness 👑.

His righteousness consecrates us. His righteousness prepares a place for us. His righteousness has cast our sins as far as the east is from the west 🌅. Today, let’s stop looking at ourselves through our own doubts and instead see what the Father sees—the righteousness of His Son, Jesus, radiating from within us ✨, all because of His sacrifice ✝️.

Application:

Today, as we reflect on Moses’ story and Matthew 6 faith, let’s take the step to ask Jesus to help us live as the “living tabernacles” of His presence. Think of one area in your life where you’ve felt “not good enough” and bring it to God. Remember that through Jesus’ righteousness, you are enough because He is enough. Rather than striving for perfection in our own strength, we can rest in the perfection of Jesus who already calls us His own.

Prayer:

“Lord Jesus, I thank You for Your grace that covers my weaknesses and lifts me from my doubts. I come before You, asking that You fill me with faith like the centurion, who knew that even Your word alone is enough. Help me release my pride, my feelings of inadequacy, and my fears. May I see myself as You see me—worthy, beloved, and righteous in Your eyes. Help me live each day as Your dwelling place, growing closer to You and trusting that You are more than enough. In Your name, Amen.”

P.S. Don’t forget to let Jesus speak to the rock that needs to be moved! His authority is enough for you.
