Wrapping Up Chapter 3 & Previewing Chapter 4 of The Secret Tree 🌳✨

by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan 🌳✨

NaNoWriMo has been an exhilarating challenge, and despite falling behind due to Liam’s and my recent sickness, I’m grateful for the journey and the support from all of you. It’s been a week of ups and downs, but I’m ready to catch up and dive deeper into Evie’s world.

In Chapter 3, Evie’s unsettling encounter with the mysterious park ranger set the stage for rising tension. Her internal conflict was also highlighted during a reflective moment at her family’s morning worship. The cross charm she found continues to weigh on her mind, both literally and figuratively. This chapter was a pivotal turning point, showing Evie’s struggle between embracing her family’s faith and confronting her own doubts.

Sneak Peek from Chapter 3: “Why does their faith come so easily? They speak to Him as if they can hear Him answer back. What am I missing?” Evie thought, gripping the cold, rusted cross charm in her pocket. Its weight felt heavier than ever, pressing into her palm as if it held the secret to all the questions swirling in her mind. She bit back a response as her mother, with eyes full of empathy, said, “Evie, sweetheart, you seem quiet this morning. Is everything okay?”

As we move into Chapter 4, a new dynamic enters the scene: the park’s community event. Evie will meet new people her age, sparking new relationships, secrets, and challenges. This event isn’t just about social interactions; it’s a chance for Evie to glimpse deeper into the lore of the park and understand that the mystery runs deeper than she ever imagined. But with new faces come new questions—who can she trust, and what secrets are they hiding?

I’ll be weaving in more suspense, tension, and perhaps a glimpse of friendship or rivalry to complicate Evie’s journey. I hope this chapter reveals more layers of the story while keeping you on the edge of your seat!

Stay tuned as I catch up on drafting this week and share more sneak peeks along the way. Your encouragement keeps me motivated, and I’m thankful for each of you sharing this NaNoWriMo journey with me.
