Spirit Led & Spirit Fed

How would I describe my heart posture?

by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan

Over the past two weeks, the Lord has been impressing on my heart the deep desperation I feel—and believe the Kingdom as a whole is in right now. Even when our human minds cannot fully grasp it, our need to know Jesus and commune with the Father has reached a fever pitch. If we are not already there, we should be in a place of desperate longing for a fresh touch from God.

He has pressed into my spirit that when we come to the end of ourselves–we have come to the very beginning of our relationship and our knowing Jesus. When we are desperate for relationship, then our flesh has died to self enough that our spiritual eyes and ears are open. The moment of an open heart and a pure desire for Him leads us to a place where we are: SPIRIT LED and SPIRIT FED.

The Holy Spirit ushers in our understanding and our learning of Jesus and of the Father while we are here living on earth. However, if we are not seeking Jesus with open eyes, ears, and hearts, how can we become HOLY SPIRIT LED and HOLY SPIRIT FED?

Scriptural Foundation

Galatians 5:18–24 (KJV)

But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness,
Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envying, murders, drunkenness, reveling, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

Zechariah 4:6 (KJV)

Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

Reflection & Challenge

If we want to live Spirit led and Spirit fed, we must first allow our flesh to die daily — not once, not occasionally, but every day. This means:

  • Submitting our own will to God’s will
  • Listening more than speaking in prayer
  • Responding to His promptings with obedience even when they challenge our comfort

Prayer

Heavenly Father,
We come before You with open hearts, desiring to be Spirit led and Spirit fed. Strip away our self-reliance, our pride, and every fleshly desire that keeps us from knowing You deeply. Teach us to hear Your voice in the quiet, to follow Your lead in faith, and to bear fruit that glorifies You. Remind us each night to end our day in conversation with You, trusting You to answer in Your perfect timing. We give You our yes today and always.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
