Designing The River Church Sign: A Prayerful Journey

by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan

Seeking God’s Direction in Every Detail

At the start of January 2024, I embarked on a mission that was more than just a design project—it was a prayerful act of service. The leadership team at The River Church of Eastman, GA, wanted a new logo and church sign that would reflect the heart and mission of the church. Knowing the weight of this responsibility, I dedicated the process to the Lord, asking Him to guide every element—from color choices to typography—to ensure that the final design would honor Him and represent His people well.

The Process: Designing with Purpose

I spent days in prayer and creative exploration, sketching, refining, and presenting options for the leadership team. The goal was clear: ✅ Create a logo that embodies the church’s identityDesign a sign that clearly communicates the missionEnsure readability and visibility for the communityReflect The River Church’s commitment to faith, worship, and outreach

The Mission Statement on the Sign

“Our mission is to raise up a people who stand firm on the Word of God while demonstrating His power and bringing GLORY to His Kingdom.”

This powerful statement was carefully placed on the sign to serve as a beacon of truth and a call to action for all who pass by.

The Final Decision & Installation

After several rounds of revisions and discussions, the leadership team selected the final design. Seeing the completed sign standing tall at 520 Dublin Hwy was a deeply fulfilling moment. It serves not only as a landmark but also as a testament to the church’s dedication to standing firm in God’s Word.

A Reminder of His Guidance

This journey reminded me that God is in the details—even in graphic design. What seemed like a simple project turned into an experience of trusting the Lord in creativity, patience, and teamwork.

Final Thoughts

I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to The River Church leadership team and Pastor Gerald for allowing me the opportunity to design this labor of love. Your trust and support in this project meant so much to me, and I am grateful for the chance to serve the church in this way.

I also want to give a very special word of love and appreciation to Jessica Sanders for spending weeks in collaboration with Blankenship Signs to bring this vision to life. Jessica dedicated many hours in preparation and worked closely with Mr. David Blankenship to finalize the signs, ensuring that every detail aligned with the church’s mission and purpose. Her commitment and perseverance played a vital role in making this project a reality, and I am deeply grateful for her partnership.

I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to The River Church in this way. As people drive past or walk through those doors, my prayer is that they will feel the love, presence, and mission of Jesus Christ reflected in every part of the church—including its very foundation and signage.

To God be the glory!
