Promoting a Series

Well, I would love to write that I am a whiz at promotions, marketing, and advertising, but honestly, I do not have a clue. I have spent years learning, teaching, and learning to teach, but I have ZERO experience with social media blitz advertising or any other self promoting tools. This past week, I have revised my series and launched a new book, yet how do I get it into the hands of people–online or in person?

I find myself watching youtube channels and reading blogs about how to market myself. I guess I have started with my blog, which happened first. I began blogging before I even wrote the series. Next, I made a business card tonight. I sit and I literally laugh at myself here. I have never had a business card other than my Wilcox County business cards that the high school had made for me.

I designed my business card from my Canva account, using my logo. I want to add the business card to my promotion procedure so that when I send copies of my books to people, I can send my card with those copies. I am sure I will have other uses for my business card, eventually.

Next, I am going to add my series to Goodreads. I have to admit that I have really enjoyed watching Sara Cannon’s YouTube channel–Heart Breathings. She is a Georgia self published, independent author with several YA fantasy series. In my mind, she is my YODA. She’s that spirit guide on the web. I hope to meet her one day. Thank you, Sara Cannon!

I am an English teacher, mother, and wife, but I love to write. I feel that I am blessed to be able to use my talent to write about my children's books, poems, short fiction, and parenting. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about my experiences with beginning a writing career while focusing on my children and my job. I look forward to comments and to hear from my readers!
