More to Say

Because of you

I will never go home again

All I have left is this little PLOT

One casket and a tiny box

Lying side by side for good

Is all that’s left

of my glorious childhood

Just a little way down the road

Stands all that was conceived

It doesn’t take much to deceive

Me, my family, and a community

Well, I will stay parked

here in this damned spot

Between stone and an empty lot

While you watch the world pass

by the window that represents

an end to your useless life

Because Judgment rides in a little

Sooner than you once believed

It’s funny how she will remain

and laugh all the way to the bank

Because who do you think won

This land lottery of hate

Shamefully, it wasn’t you

Because God will have

His final say

But maybe not today

My inheritance is the SHOOT

That grows from the ground

broke with my father’s plow

It’s these THREE

who will inherit this town

One, two, three—

two kings and a queen—

Born and raised from the very dirt

you haphazardly sold away

without a sentiment to pay

Look to the sky when

Death comes your way

When you enter

the eternal gate

I wonder what

He will say

Wait: don’t lose

H. E. A. R. T.

There’s always

Grace to impart

Just as forever is

the same as a day

I guarantee you

I will NEVER

run out of

WORDS

to say
