Worship in Spirit and in TRUTH!
by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan
Worship is more than a song. It’s more than a Sunday moment.
Worship is an intimate, ongoing, relational experience with our Creator. It’s how we live, how we respond, how we surrender.
One of my favorite songs by Phil Wickham says, “I’m made to worship.” And truly, that line echoes what I’ve known since I was a young one in Jesus:
I was placed on this earth for one purpose—to worship the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Everything else I get to do—writing, creating, parenting, working—is just grace and favor… the extra “fluff” of His goodness.
I’ve come to understand that the natural talents God gave me weren’t just for show. They were entrusted to me so that I might worship Him through them. My words. My creativity. My story.
I believe the same is true for you.
We all worship in different ways—through art, prayer, music, service, or stillness. But this much I know for certain:
True worship must be done in Spirit and in truth.
(John 4:24)
Worship isn’t confined to a church pew. It’s every breath surrendered in awe of the One who gave it.
This Is Worship
Each time I sit at this desk and ruminate on the love I have for my Savior—I am worshiping.
Not performing.
Not producing.
Just being still in His presence and letting my heart speak what words cannot always say.
This morning, I asked the Lord what He had for me to do today.
His answer was so simple. So clear.
“Spend today in worship.”
And I realized—I already had been.
Last night, in the quiet of my home, I crept into Liam’s room to tuck him in for the second time. I kissed his warm, sleepy cheek. I tucked the edges of the covers around his little frame, and as I stood there, I whispered a thank-you to the Father—the sweet, holy, overwhelming kind of gratitude that spills from your eyes before it ever escapes your lips.
That was worship.
This morning, singing aloud while I dressed, I lifted my voice—not for performance, but from a place of praise.
That was worship.
At 2 a.m., when I woke and found myself interceding for two strangers I’ve never met:
That, too, was worship.
When my heart longs to know His heart,
When I choose victory instead of fear—because of what He did for me—
That is worship.
Worship is not confined to Sunday songs.
It is a daily rhythm of surrender, gratitude, intercession, and joy.
Praise the name of Yeshua!
Praise the name of Yahweh!
Praise the sweet, sweet Holy Spirit!
Worship Him with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul, and all your strength.
Not just with your voice, but with your life.
I Am Made to Worship
If the Lord ever gives me the opportunity to sing for Him in public again, I will do it with every fiber of my being.
Not for applause.
Not for recognition.
Because I was made to worship.
Until that day comes, I will worship Him with what I do have.
With my life.
With my heart.
With my writing.
And with my mouth—every word, every breath, every whispered thank you.
Worship isn’t waiting for a stage or a microphone.
It’s kneeling beside a child’s bed in the quiet.
It’s writing down the words He pours into my spirit.
It’s choosing joy in the mundane.
It’s standing firm in the truth, even when no one’s watching.
It is all for Him.
So I will worship—today, tomorrow, and always.
This is what I was made for, and He is worthy of it all.
📖 Scripture
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”
—Romans 12:1 (NIV)
📖 Scripture
“Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
—John 4:23–24 (NIV)
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”

🔥 Challenge
Worship isn’t something we save for Sunday—it’s the posture of our lives.
This week, I challenge you to worship intentionally. Not just in song, but in how you serve, how you speak, and how you slow down to recognize His presence.
Ask the Lord each morning:
“How can I worship You today?”
Then listen—and obey with joy, even if it looks simple or quiet.
🙏 Prayer
Father,
You are worthy of all praise, all honor, and all glory.
I thank You for the gift of worship—not just through music or ministry, but through every moment of my life.
Teach me to worship You in Spirit and in truth.
Let my writing, my speaking, my parenting, and even my quiet moments be fragrant offerings unto You.
I long to know Your heart and walk in Your will.
Until the day You call me to sing again, I will worship You with my life.
Because You alone are worthy.
In the name of Yeshua,
Amen.
