A Word from the Lord About Going on the Offense
by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan
Since I stopped growing many moons ago, Iâve continued to change over time. Surprisingly, my feet have shifted the most since my teenage years. Theyâve swollen during pregnancy, ached from years of standing on concrete floors, and even grown over the past decade. After my last pregnancy eight years ago, my left foot became both wider and longer than my right. The doctor said this was normal postpartum, but Iâve honestly considered buying two different size shoes.
đ My left big toe is so long that it often bursts through the top of my size 10 Hey Dudesâbut if I go up to an 11, my right foot swims. This morning, as I walked to the truck and felt my left foot pressing against my shoe, the Lord spoke clearly and said, âGo write this down!â âď¸
He reminded me: as the years have progressed and my maturity in Him has grown, so has my readiness to serve Himâsymbolized even by my changing feet.
âď¸ The Symbolism of Our Feet
In Ephesians 6:10â17, Paul teaches us to put on the full armor of God, and our feet are not forgotten in that list. They are to be fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace:
â…with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.â
â Ephesians 6:15 (NIV)
The Lord reminded me this morning that we often overlook the feet as part of our spiritual armor, treating them like an afterthought. But He said, âItâs not the least importantâitâs the most effective part. It represents forward motion.â
Jesus laughed and told me: âThe world thinks itâs defensive, but I use it as offense against the enemy!â
𼞠A Boot Store Revelation
This week, Chris, Liam, and I drove to Dublin, GA, to get Liam new bootsâheâd outgrown his old ones. The salesperson at Strickland’s wisely sized him up a half size, giving him room to grow. Liam loved them so much that he left the store wearing them.
Now, remembering that day, God has drawn my attention to a moment that had nothing to do with LiamâChris was explaining that he loved his work boots but kept feeling like something was stabbing his foot. The salesman asked to check them and immediately found the culprit: worn-out insoles.
Chrisâ insoles were torn at the toes and heelsâbarely anything left. Sunday is his only day off; he runs S&S Fab and Welding and farms six days a week. Of course the friction had worn them completely down. We bought new insoles, and Chris switched them out right there in the storeâpain gone.
đ A Picture of Preparation
As I prayed over that memory, the Lord whispered, âThatâs it. Thatâs the perfect example of readied feet.â
It is the feet that carry the sword of the Spirit (the Word of God) to the people. The hands hold it, yesâbut the feet move it forward. Whether to friend or foe, His Word must go out through His people.
âHow beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news…â
â Isaiah 52:7 (NIV)
In a broader spiritual picture, He pointed out how Israel has readied their feetânot to stand still defensively, but to move offensively, carrying the sword of truth against nuclear threat. Godâs covenant people are not afraid to advance.
đ From Knees to Movement
As children of the Most High God, we too are instructed to move forwardânot shrink back. However, the Lord reminded me: sometimes your feet must be still so your knees can bend.
When we are in seasons of preparation, intercession, or seeking, we meet Him on our knees. Our feet are attached to our legs, and our legs hinge at the kneesâwe must kneel before we march.
âYour word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You.â
â Psalm 119:11 (NKJV)
We must store the Word deep in our hearts so that we may speak, fight, and wield the sword against the enemyâwho, by the way, knows scripture in every language that has ever existed. REMEMBER that he will never have the Holy Spirit inside him. Thatâs our advantage. Thatâs our authority. đĽ
đŚ Lion of Judah, Go Before Us!
Remember, Jesusâ followers have been grafted into the line of Jesse. We carry the authority of Adonai and Jesus, sealed by the Spirit. Ready your feet. Donât give up.

I hear the roar of the Lion of the Tribe of Judahâand I will answer His call.
Revelations 5:5
5 Then one of the elders said to me, âDo not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.â
đ¤ If Youâre Not Feeling Like a Warrior Today…
Maybe youâre in a season where even carrying the Armor of God feels heavy. Thatâs okay. Jesus is gentle. Let Him carry your burden:
âCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.â
â Matthew 11:28â30 (NIV)
If youâre in preparation, steward that season well. Meet God on your knees. Read the Word. Learn how to wield it. The battle is realâbut so is your training.
đŁ A Final Whisper
As I finished praying this morning, I quietly said to the Lord, âOnly 20 people have been reading the blog routinely since I dedicated it to Your service.â
He answered plainly:
âThe RIGHT 20 are reading it. That is all that matters.â
Nothing done for the Kingdom is wasted. đ§đą He multiplies what we give Him.
đŁ These Feet Are Ready
Back to my original thought: my feet have changed. They arenât the same feet I used to dance in, run in, or dress up for every occasion. But these feet? Theyâre seasoned. Theyâre called. Theyâre ready. Even if theyâre mismatched and aching.

And Jesus says,
âJennifer, these feet are indeed ready to move forward at My command.â
I will obey Him. đ
No matter what.
Thank You, Father, for Your Armor.
God bless you, friends. Keep pressing into Him.Â
đ Prayer for Future Readiness
Father God,
Thank You for the journey Youâve walked with meâthrough every season, every ache, every stretch. As I look ahead, I surrender my future to You. Prepare my feet, Lord, for the path Youâve designed. May I walk in confidence, knowing that it is You who orders my steps.
Equip me, Holy Spirit, with strength for every battle, tenderness for every soul, and wisdom for every word I speak. Help me not to fear change, but to embrace growthâspiritual and physicalâas a mark of Your refining love. When I stand, let it be in truth. When I walk, let it be in obedience. When I kneel, let it be in surrender.
Ready my feet with the gospel of peace. Let me not hesitate to go where You send meâwhether across the room or across the world. Teach me to love the preparation season as much as the moment of battle. Let Your Word be the sword I carry, and Your Spirit be the guide I follow.
In Jesusâ name,
Amen.
đŁ Challenge for the Week: Ready Your Feet
This week, take one intentional step to “ready your feet” for the Lord’s service.
â Choose one (or more) of the following:
- đ Prayer Walk: Spend 15 minutes walking and praying over your neighborhood, workplace, school, or town. Let your feet literally carry His presence into everyday places.
- đ Scripture Memorization: Choose a verse from Ephesians 6 or Romans 10:15 (âHow beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!â) to memorize and meditate on throughout the week.
- 𧌠Sock or Shoe Challenge: Each morning, as you put on your socks or shoes, say a short prayer: âLord, ready my feet for Your service today.â
- đ Act of Obedience: Go where He sends youâeven if itâs just a text to someone He places on your heart or visiting someone youâve been putting off. Take that step in faith.
â¨Reflect: At the end of the week, journal or pray over this question:
âWhere did my feet take me this week in obedience to God?â
You are being positioned on purposeâeven your physical steps have spiritual weight. Donât underestimate the distance one faithful footstep can carry the Kingdom.
