Torn Wings Still Fly: A New Chapter Begins

by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan

There are moments in life when you can feel the Lord shifting something—quietly, steadily, and with purpose.

This week, I have the honor of stepping into a new opportunity that I never could have planned on my own. I’ve been asked to write a weekly devotional column for The Ledger in Cochran, Georgia. Each Friday, I will be sharing a short devotional titled Torn Wings Still Fly, and I can hardly put into words how much this means to me.

For so long, writing has been something deeply personal—a place where the Lord has met me in quiet moments, in questions, in healing, and in truth. Over the past year, especially since stepping away from the classroom and into this new season of working alongside my family at S&S FAB and Welding, I have found myself writing more than ever before. Not out of obligation, but out of obedience.

Now, what began in the quiet is being placed into a space where it can reach others.

That is not something I take lightly.

The title Torn Wings Still Fly was not something I came up with on my own. It was given to me in a moment that I now see as preparation for this very season. It carries the message the Lord has been writing on my heart—that brokenness is not the end of the story. That what feels damaged is not beyond His restoration. That even now, in the middle of life’s hardest places, there is still movement, still purpose, still flight.

Each week, my prayer is simple: that these words meet someone exactly where they are.

Not perfectly put together.
Not with all the answers.
But in the real, in-between places where faith is lived out daily.

If you are local to Cochran, I would love for you to read the column in The Ledger on Fridays. If you’re not, I will continue to share here as I am able. Either way, thank you for reading, for supporting, and for allowing me to share what the Lord is placing on my heart.

This is a new chapter.

Thankfully and for the glory of God, I have a feeling it’s only the beginning.

💛 Thank you, Becky Holland, for giving me this opportunity!!

Lord,
I thank You for opening doors that I could never open on my own. Thank You for trusting me with words that carry Your truth, Your healing, and Your heart for others. As I step into this new opportunity, I ask that You would guide every sentence I write. Let my words reflect You—full of grace, truth, and love.

Use this column to reach those who feel unseen, unheard, and broken. Remind them that You are near, that You restore, and that nothing is beyond Your redemption. Keep me humble, obedient, and sensitive to Your Spirit in every message I share.

This is Yours, Lord.
Have Your way in it.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
