She Was Rescued—Now She Is Sent

by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan

There are moments in a mother’s life that feel like standing on holy ground. Yesterday was one of those moments for me. My daughter, Anya, graduated from The Ramp University with honors May 3, 2026. She stood there smiling, holding her diploma and flowers, and I saw so much more than a graduate. I saw a miracle. I saw years of prayer, tears, and surrender wrapped up in one beautiful, quiet smile.

Then in the morning May 5, 2026, she will leave for South Africa on a mission trip.

Anya@ the Ramp University

No pause. No break. Just obedience.

There was a time when I wasn’t sure what her story would look like. There were nights filled with fear and days where I held onto faith by a thread, but even then, God was writing something I could not yet see. “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18, ESV). He was near then, and He is near now.

What amazes me most is not just that she made it through her teen years full of mental health struggle and emotional upheaval. Because of God, she didn’t just survive—she surrendered. She said yes to Jesus in a way that changed everything!!

Now she is going. Going out to be a fisher of men!!

She does not answer her call to reach others for Jesus because it’s easy. Not because it’s comfortable. But because she has encountered Him, and she cannot keep Him to herself. “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19, ESV). Those words are no longer just Scripture to her—they are a calling.

As I watched her yesterday, I realized something deep in my spirit: the girl I once fought for is now a woman who will fight for others. God did not just heal her. He prepared her. He restored her completely with such fortitude that it will spill onto others! There is a sending that comes after healing. There is a purpose that rises from the ashes of pain, and there is a boldness that only comes from knowing who you are in Christ.

So today, I release my Anya Claire again. Not with fear, but with faith because the same God who rescued her is the One who now sends her.

Reflection
Where have you seen God bring someone from brokenness into purpose? How might He be calling you to trust Him with what—or who—you love most?

Challenge
Pray this week about where God may be asking you to step out in obedience, even if it feels uncomfortable or uncertain.

PRAYER COVERING FOR ANYA

Father God,

I thank You for Anya. I thank You for her life, her healing, and her yes to You. You have carried her through valleys and brought her into purpose, and I praise You for every step of that journey. Lord, as she goes to South Africa, I ask that You go before her. Your Word says, “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:8, ESV). Let that be her confidence. Cover her with Your protection. Guard her coming and her going. Surround her with Your angels and keep her safe in every place her feet touch.

Fill her with boldness through the Holy Spirit. Give her the right words at the right time. Let her be a light in every conversation, every interaction, and every moment of service. Lord, let her see You move. Let her witness Your power, Your love, and Your salvation in ways that mark her forever. Strengthen her faith and deepen her relationship with You. And Father, give me peace as I release her into Your hands again. Remind me that she was Yours before she was ever mine.

We trust You with her life, her calling, and her journey.

In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
