Dirt Road Rascals Sequel
by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan
I didn’t plan to outline a sequel today.
I was just sitting in the car rider line, waiting like every other mama, with the radio humming low and the sun warming the dashboard. Somewhere between the third and fourth thought in my head, the next chapter of Dirt Road Rascals unfolded right there inside my phone notes.
It starts with a golf cart.
It ends in the branch.
That’s right—Stuck in the Branch is officially in the works.
Grady and Dottie Rose have more adventures ahead—though this one hits a little harder. After a split-second decision and a wild ride gone wrong, Grady winds up with a broken leg, a long recovery, and a bruised spirit. What follows is a story about pain, perseverance, and the quiet ways God heals what we can’t always see.
It’s funny, emotional, and so deeply rooted in love—just like the first book.
Only this time, the road to recovery is a little muddier.
As I jotted ideas on the back of an envelope and whispered “thank You, Lord,” I realized again how faithful He is to meet me right where I am—even in the car rider line with hoodies and blankets all in the back seat and trash stuffed in the cupholders when I only have one bar of cell signal left.
The next Dirt Road Rascals story is already taking shape. If the real Grady and Dollie Rose Greene have taught me anything, it’s that the best stories come when you’re not afraid to get a little messy first.
