Christian children’s books are fun too!

In 2013 and 2014, I had such a wonderful group of students at WCHS. The members of the Class of 2013 and the Class of 2014 at Wilcox County High School in Rochelle, Georgia, still have such a special place in my heart and my mind. Those years, we got to work with highly motivated and very talented young people, and I must admit they inspired me each day. When they worked on their creative writing or their journals, I would write with them and later share mine. I always want my students to know that my writing is also a work in process, and a very few of my musing. those two years, were good enough to save for later.

I wrote “Purposeful Day’ a children’s book, inspired by Psalms 118:22. I created two personified rocks with the main character who searches for her purpose.

I remember reading the story to my American Literature students. They looked at me with sheer wonder in their eyes. They wondered why in the world I was reading them children’s books at their age. I laughed and sent the copy of the book to the notes in my phone, and that is where it has existed until tonight.

Tonight, I opened the Note and sent it to my email, opening it inside a Google Doc. I formatted it as a manuscript, and I sent it to a publisher. “Purposeful Day” may still take many months to see the light of published day, but my enthusiasm is renewed. I will continue to aggravate publishers and agents until I find one or MORE! I believe there is an important audience for Sarah and Sammy Stone!
