Intercede for New York City
by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan
As I ponder on whether or not to post this, I know I have no other option but to be obedient. How does one prepare her readers for such stark sadness and urgency? This note has been stuck in my phone with about seven others from July 4, 2025. I often leave the messages from the Father in my phone until He gives me permission to use them, to pray over it, or to share it.
He told me earlier in the spring that 2025 would be known as the burning time. He, in His sovereignty, tries to explain the times and cycles of time to me, yet often, I just sit in such lack of understanding because my feeble human mind really cannot fathom what He tells me much of the time. There happens to be a sentiment that I do understand: Jesus still intercedes for His people.
The Holy Spirit’s fire still burns in my bones, so I will take heart and courage and present what I have been told. For there is constant truth in the words of the Lord: “And the words of the LORD are flawless, like silver purified in a crucible, like gold refined seven times.” (Psalm 12:6 NIV)
Prophetic Word Received July 4th, 2024
“New York City is Babylon,” says the Lord. “I have shown you a glimpse of what is to come. My Cyrus and My Son stand between Satan and his plans to destroy America, for the enemy desires to bring his schemes ahead of My appointed time. But I, the Lord, am the keeper of the times and the seasons (Daniel 2:21).”
“My Cyrus has risen—strong and courageous, chosen for this hour (Isaiah 45:1–4). I have placed him as a barrier and a servant to My will.”
“New York City will burn, for the idols must fall before the nation can rise again. Pray for mercy, but judgment has come (Jeremiah 51:6–9). The shaking will continue because the whore cannot stand in America—for America is My nation, and I will cleanse her of her impurities (Haggai 2:6–7).”
“I am giving you a glimpse of the very near future. Pray for the Jews and Christians in New York City, that they may be preserved under My hand when the shaking comes (Zechariah 2:7–8; Psalm 91:1–4).”
The Call to Intercessors
When I sought the Lord about this hard word, my Savior and Redeemer, Jesus, spoke tenderly to my spirit:
“Daughter, call out to the intercessors of God. Pray over New York City. You have been called to pray and intercede for mercy—over the Jewish community and over the Christian community in NYC. Plead Psalm 91 over this city. The window for intercession is very short… so very short.”
This is not a word of fear, but a call to mercy. Even in shaking, God’s heart longs to redeem and protect His people.
The Heart of an Intercessor
An intercessor’s heart is a sensitive one—broken for the people he or she prays for and tuned to the very heartbeat of the Father. The urgency of intercession feels tangible because the spiritual realm is close and alive with movement.
And so I prayed:
“Lord, I ask that You Yourself reach down with Your strong, mighty right hand and rip the righteous out of the hands of the fowler. (Psalm 91:3)
If there be fifty or more, as Abraham pleaded for Sodom (Genesis 18:23–32), search the hearts in the city and show mercy to Your people. Protect them from the shaking and the burning that You have said is coming.
Don’t let the enemy have his way today or any day in the state of New York. Return us all to Your side. Lead us back to You—to Your redemption and to Your way.”

Intercessory Prayer for New York City
Father of Mercy,
You are righteous in judgment and rich in compassion. You shake the nations not to destroy but to awaken. We cry out for Your mercy over New York City—over every heart that bears Your name. Protect the righteous, redeem the lost, and break every chain of idolatry and deception. Cover the Jewish and Christian communities with Your wings of protection. Let the blood of Jesus be their shield. As You did for Abraham, hear the cries of Your intercessors and remember mercy in the midst of shaking. May Your Spirit sweep through the city like wind through dry bones, bringing revival, repentance, and restoration. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen.
Reflection: The Weight of Intercession
To intercede is to share the Lord’s burden for His people—to feel what He feels and to cry out as He would. Judgment and mercy often stand side by side in Scripture, but the heart of the Father always longs to redeem before He restores.
Now is the hour for intercessors to arise—for watchmen to stand on the walls and plead for mercy. The window is short, but the arm of the Lord is not. Let those who love Him cry out, “In wrath, remember mercy.” (Habakkuk 3:2) Don’t forget New York City! Pray for the people there day and night so that we may bring incense before the throne. Pray my dear Sisters and Brothers, PRAY!
