Breaking into YouTube as a Writer

Preparing to create an AuthorTube Channel

Over the Winter Break from school, I have spent most of my time shopping and spending time with family. I haven’t written any blog posts or edited any of my books in more than a week now. I needed a good break from the toiling sometimes. During Thanksgiving break, I didn’t write for five days.

However, I have conducted some research on creating an AuthorTube Channel on YouTube. I watched several writer’s channels, and I noticed several vloggers teach others how to make their own AuthorTube channels. I quickly recognized that several of these folks have drama with each other, and I already know that my form of professionalism is different from most of the Millennials in this writing community.

I have no desire for competition or for drama. I am going to vlog about my work, and whatever comes to my mind. Other than researching, I needed to find a place in the house to video myself. Because we have five kids, I have no office; therefore, I spent several days trying to figure out where I could carve out a few feet of space for a desk area.

My farmhouse decorating style will definitely be a change from most AuthorTube backgrounds. I had Sophia organize my closet so that I could store all the Christmas trees and décor neatly. The organization helped inspire me to add one of my antique tables to the spot I had my Christmas trees. Writers need a desk. I want to video near or around my desk area. Sophia helped me dust, vacuum, and sweep all dust bunnies away; she even cleaned the windows inside and out.

Our cleaning progress led me to finish my little YouTube nook. I am going to have to invest into some lighting behind the camera, but at least, I have a place to start work.

Next, I will grab the video camera and practice a bit. I know that I want to use my desktop and video editing software to create videos that do not just include live steaming, but also incorporate music, graphics, and initiative layouts. Hopefully, I can spare the money for the page soon.

I hope my future followers appreciate taxidermy.

In addition, I also want to get a few videos ready to release so that my content comes out consistently in order to better appeal to YouTube logarithms. My goal is to have the AuthorTube channel be operational by mid January when my Christian children’s book is ready to be published. If all else fails, I still have a clean and cute living room.

Well, I guess I will get back to watching AutorTube channels and planning to improve my makeup game. I never really need an excuse for new makeup. Oh, a few new shirts wouldnot hurt either. Really, though, I need lighting equipment and my own camera. I have a feeling that my desktop will be making the first several videos. Happy New Year to my AuthorTube plans and research. 2021 will be my year! I just know it.

I am an English teacher, mother, and wife, but I love to write. I feel that I am blessed to be able to use my talent to write about my children's books, poems, short fiction, and parenting. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have about my experiences with beginning a writing career while focusing on my children and my job. I look forward to comments and to hear from my readers!
