Yesterday, Sophia, Bailey, and I set out on a cold, rainy Tuesday to SHOP for the last few Christmas gifts. I usually dislike shopping, but yesterday, we stopped for Chick-fil-a and followed that with a visit to The Olive Branch in Dublin, Georgia.
The initial plan was to drop off twenty copies of my books to The Olive Branch, a Christian bookstore in Dublin, Georgia. I met with Ms. Vickie, handed her my books, and received copies of my contracts. I secretly prayed on the way there that those books would actually sell before they decided to ship them back to me.
Sells in 2021 had not been exactly what I had hoped, yet it was a great year for my writing. So yesterday, I was happy to work with Ms. Vickie, yet I decided to have no expectations. To my surprise, she was so warm and so inviting.
She put my books into the computer system and decided to put my books in the children’s section, not the local author section. The changing of the section for my books was my first surprise! Next, she said she wanted to get pictures for their FB and business page. This was my second surprise! The final surprise came when she asked if I would like to do a book signing in January.
At that point, I could have jumped up and down right there in front of this sweet lady who wore a festive holiday sweater and a bright smile. She had no idea that she had just made my entire year. We selected January 22, 2022 as our date for the signing, and we discussed the local media outlets in order to advertise the signing. Of course, I called Chris and my mama to tell the news. I am not sure how exciting it is to them, but I am STOKED.
Just as I sit here writing the blog post while listening to Bailey and Liam play fight in the living room, I am so thankful for my blessings. I am blessed to be able to use the imagination my God gave me, and I am blessed to share that imagination with my childen, my family, and my friends.

The reality of this blessing really became real when I got to go the Kids Korner in the bookstore to see my books on the shelves. My books have been available online for two years, but to see them on a shelf for children and for parents to wonder over to and to hold, is a LIFE LONG DREAM COME TRUE.
