33Â But seek first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33
In the midst of joyfully preparing for my Seeking Jesus Everyday book signing this Saturday, I’ve also been facing something a little unexpected—negativity.
A few days ago, I noticed someone repeatedly commenting on my book ads with a can of spam, labeling my post—and by extension, my message—as irrelevant junk. Others weren’t quite as subtle. One said my IQ must be lower than his cat’s. Others were simply cruel for cruelty’s sake.
At first, I felt the sting. I’m human. I’ve poured months—years—into this ministry. I’ve fasted, prayed, and cried over every single word of Seeking Jesus Everyday. So yes, to be mocked for something so deeply connected to my walk with Christ hit me hard.
But then Jesus reminded me:
They mocked Him too.
The very One who healed, loved, and forgave was insulted, rejected, and ridiculed. Why should I expect different when I am simply walking in His shadow?
“Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven…”
— Matthew 5:10-12 (NIV)
So I won’t let hate steal my joy. I won’t let petty comments silence the voice God placed within me. And I certainly won’t stop writing truth just because someone behind a keyboard feels brave in their bitterness.
Instead, I will pray.
I will pray for their hearts to soften, for their eyes to open, and for their lives to encounter the Jesus I know—the One who saved me, redeemed me, and still walks beside me every day.
If you’ve ever been discouraged by the cruelty of the world, friend, take heart:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith…”
— Hebrews 12:2
“Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
— Romans 12:21
A Final Word of Encouragement:
If God has placed something on your heart—do it. Even if the world mocks you. Even if it feels like no one understands. Even if your comment section fills with criticism.
Because the One who called you will carry you. And His voice will always be louder than the noise of this world—if you let it.
Keep writing. Keep loving. Keep showing up.
I know I will. đź’›
With love and grace,
