đźšśFrom Fishing Lines to Font Funnies: Dirt Road Rascals Readers Weigh In

🚜 Dirt Road Rascals Reader Update 🌾

by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan

It’s been an amazing journey watching Dirt Road Rascals connect with readers, but this week has been extra special! Several young readers have reached out to me with their honest (and very helpful!) feedback on the book.

First, my nephew Grady Greene let me know he read the chapter book, especially since he found himself fictionalized into it. He thought it was “pretty cool,” but pointed out an inconsistency: sometimes his character had a fishing pole and other times just a fishing line. I let him know I appreciated his sharp eye—consistency in fishing gear matters!

Harper and Liam also read the book and quickly let me know that my font style had them confused, especially because each “S” looked like an 8. That’s definitely something I’ll be mindful of for future editions!

Last week, my sweet mama texted me, letting me know she’s read the book and bought several copies to give away (Thanks, Mama!). And this morning, Danielle texted me an adorable picture of Millie Kate and Everly holding their copy.

Everly figured out that Dottie Rose is actually her softball friend Dollie Rose—she’s so sharp and absolutely precious!

I’m not used to kids reading my books by themselves, as most of my children’s books are read aloud by a parent or grandparent. So hearing feedback directly from my young readers has been both fun and eye-opening. Thank you, Grady, Everly, Harper, Liam, and Millie Kate, for reading my book! I’m still waiting to hear back from Dollie Rose about her thoughts, and I can’t wait.

Keep reading this summer, y’all! Your support and enthusiasm mean the world to me, and your feedback helps me make these stories even better. 🚜🌟
