🐣 Chuck the Chick Learns Patience

A New Children’s Book with a Very Special Dedication

by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan

I am so thrilled to officially announce the release of my newest children’s book, Chuck the Chick Learns Patience! This sweet, simple story for babies and toddlers is a celebration of growth, timing, and the joy that comes from learning to wait.

📅 Release Date: July 30, 2025
📚 It will be available on Amazon and The Jubilee Junction 7/30/25

Written and illustrated by me and my son Liam, Chuck the Chick follows an eager little egg who just can’t wait to hatch. But when he breaks free too soon, Chuck finds himself alone and unprepared for the adventures he had hoped to enjoy. Through playful illustrations and gentle storytelling, young readers learn that joy is worth the wait—and that good things come in God’s perfect timing.

📖 What Makes This Book So Special?

Chuck the Chick Learns Patience isn’t just another story—it’s a reflection of something deeply personal to me.

This book is lovingly dedicated to my grandmother, Vonceil Faircloth, affectionately known in our family as Nannie. At 93 years young, she has been my greatest cheerleader, supporter, and inspiration for everything I’ve ever created.

Nannie and Liam

From the time I was little, Nannie and I would spend hours reading together, coloring side by side, and even writing our own little stories. She always had a hug, a milkshake, and a listening ear ready whenever I needed one. When I became a mother myself, she was the one I trusted with my own sick children when I had to head off to work in Wilcox or Wheeler County. Even today, she and Sophia, my second born daughter, are close and do life together.

Nannie has never stopped showing up for me.
So now, it’s my honor to show up for her—by dedicating my first book for babies and toddlers to her.

🌿 Scriptures That Inspired This Story

This story is rooted in the timeless truth of God’s Word:

  • Psalm 27:14 (ESV):
“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!”
  • Romans 8:25 (ESV):
“But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.”

These verses serve as both the heart of Chuck’s story and a gentle reminder for all of us—children and adults alike.

🕊️ Bonus: A Gift of Salvation

In the back of the book, you’ll find a simple salvation message and prayer for families to read with their little ones. I pray that it plants seeds of faith in young hearts as they learn not just to wait—but to trust the One who holds time in His hands.

💛 Final Thoughts

Chuck the Chick Learns Patience is more than a story—it’s a legacy.
It’s a tribute to the woman who showed me the power of words and presence.
It’s a gift to the next generation of readers and believers. Ultimately, this book is a little reminder that joy takes time—but it’s always worth the wait.

Thank you, Nannie. I love you.

🐥 Sneak Peek: A Glimpse Inside the Book

There once was a small egg that wiggled a lot. This was Chuck’s egg. Chuck did not like to wait.
He wanted to see the world now! His mom would say, “Wait a little while, Chuck. It’s not time yet.”
But one day Chuck pecked at his shell. Crack! Out he popped. Chuck looked around to see his siblings inside their shells.
“Oh, no!” cried Chuck. “I am all alone.”
