A Beautiful Day Living in the Favor of God

What a great day! 4/3/25

by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan

Yesterday was one of those days that just fills my heart up and overflows.

Each day lately, I’ve been reminded of the sweet truth that the Lord blesses us with the chance to see Him in the simple, quiet corners of our lives. When I begin to notice—really notice—His fingerprints, I can’t help but stand in awe of His glory and His faithfulness.

I’ve spent the last twenty years searching and struggling, longing for a season like this. Now that I’m in it, I recognize the favor that’s been so graciously placed over my life.

Yesterday’s adventure began with something special: I finished and submitted my very first official graphic design order—a set of ministry business cards that the Lord inspired. The design was beautiful, personal, and full of heart. I worshipped as I created, feeling His Spirit guide each detail. Even making the requested edits felt like a blessing, not a burden. Walking in my gifts, using them for His glory—what an incredible joy! I am so grateful for it.

After that, I shifted into bookkeeping mode for S & S FAB and Welding, LLC. (Because creativity and spreadsheets do live side by side in this little tiny office of mine.) Invoices were sent, orders were handled, and the peace of productivity covered me like a warm quilt.

Then came the part I almost skipped.
Something outside of my comfort zone.
Something I nearly said no to, yet I stepped out in faith.

Thanks to Chris graciously entertaining Liam for the evening, I stepped into something new—a cooking class with a dear friend. Now, I have a love/hate relationship with cooking. I love food. I really do. But I’ve never been especially skilled in the kitchen. Now that the girls have flown the nest—my #1 and #2 chefs—I’ve had to face the stove more often than I’d like. Believe me, I am the one who just brings the bag of ice to potlucks and family gatherings.

What happened last night? It was different. I was different.

I felt seen. I was encouraged. I am capable.

The instructor was wonderful. The fellowship was genuine, and when I walked out with three meals prepped for the upcoming week, I felt a sense of accomplishment that I hadn’t expected. I was proud—not just of the meals—but of the fact that I showed up. I said “yes!” I took a step to become a better wife and homemaker for Chris and Liam as we navigate this new season as a family of three instead of seven.

Ultimately, I’ll say it again: what a beautiful life it has turned out to be.

I see the work of His hands in my creativity, in my courage, in my relationships, and even in the quiet corners of the kitchen that I have up until this point begrudged. And I give Him all the glory.

💛 Grace

2 Corinthians 12:9 (NIV)
“But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

This verse reminds us that God’s grace is not just a covering—it’s power in the middle of our growth, our every day existence.

Here’s to noticing the sweetness in ordinary days, and walking forward knowing that the Lord wastes nothing—not even our discomfort.

What a faithful God we serve.

💛 Favor

Psalm 90:17 (ESV)
“Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!”

This is a beautiful declaration over your creativity, your business, and your ministry—that God’s favor not only rests on you, but also establishes what you’re building with Him.

✨ Application: A Heart of Gratitude

Sometimes we wait so long for a breakthrough that, when it comes, we almost forget to pause and say thank You.

But gratitude is what anchors us in seasons of abundance—just as much as it sustains us in seasons of drought.

As I reflect on all that God is doing in my life right now—from the business cards He inspired to the courage He gave me to step into that kitchen—I am overwhelmed with appreciation. He has been faithful in every step, even the ones I didn’t understand at the time. Even when I couldn’t see it clearly, He was building this season of joy long before I arrived in it.

🙏 Prayer

Father, thank You for Your steadfast love and unshakable faithfulness. Thank You for walking with me through the hard seasons and into the gentle joy I now experience. Help me to always see Your hand at work—even in the small things. Let my life be a testimony of gratitude, obedience, and growth. I offer this season back to You, Lord. May everything I create, every meal I cook, and every word I write glorify You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

💡 Challenge

Take a moment today to look around and recognize God’s faithfulness in your life.

📓 Write down three things that remind you of His goodness—big or small.
🎨 Create something, cook something, or simply rest in something today that celebrates the season you’re in.
📣 And then, tell someone about it. Your testimony could be the encouragement they’re waiting for.

God is present in your every day. You just have to pause long enough to notice.
