The Look on Their Faces…

First Graders are awesome!!
by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan

This morning, I had the absolute joy of visiting Mrs. Rowland’s first grade class at Northwest Laurens Elementary School—and oh, what a moment we shared!

As I introduced my upcoming book, The First Grade Chatterbox, I told them about Charlie… and how he wears a box on his head until he learns how to listen.

Y’all—the looks on their faces were priceless.
Their eyes widened. Their jaws dropped. One even whispered, “No way!”
Just like that, Charlie had their imaginations, and he already has my heart. Knowing when to stop talking and truly listen is a crucial skill—one I still wrestle with daily.

These first graders didn’t just hear a story today—they entered it. The urged me to write a story about them. Each child deserves his or her own story! I hope I inspire at least one other person in this world to finally tell the story that has been lingering in his or her heart for years.

Moments like these remind me why I write. Why I create. Why I keep showing up with stories that carry both heart and humor, challenge and change.

I am so excited about The First Grade Chatterbox.
Charlie is coming—and he’s bringing a message that matters.

📚💬 Stay tuned, friends. This one’s going to be special.
