🔥⚙️I am loving this new story idea!!
by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan
I’m beyond excited to share my newest children’s book concept with you all—a story of grit, determination, and breaking barriers! Meet Sparkie, a young woman who dreams of becoming a welder, just like her dad. But in a world where welding is often seen as a “man’s job,” Sparkie has to prove that her strength, skill, and perseverance make her just as capable as anyone else.

This story needs to be told!!
Where Did I Get the Idea?
This story idea came to me while doing payroll at S&S FAB and Welding, LLC, where my husband and I have been blessed to see some incredible workers grow and thrive. Eight months ago, I encouraged Chris to hire the company’s first female welder, Mattie—a high school senior balancing both school and welding. Today, I watched her work alongside our lead welder, Brian, seamlessly moving beams together, and I knew right then:
💡 This story needs to be told.
Girls belong in trades. They belong in welding. They belong anywhere their passion and hard work take them!

🔹 When given a real welding challenge at work, Sparkie feels nervous—but she remembers her training and succeeds.

🔹 The story comes full circle when Sparkie graduates welding school—and later, she inspires another young girl to follow in her footsteps.
Why This Story Matters
Representation in children’s books matters. Trades, skilled labor, and welding aren’t just for men. Young girls and mature women who are mechanically inclined, creative, and hands-on should see themselves in books that reflect those strengths.
This story is for:
📚 Girls who love to build, create, and problem-solve
⚡ Parents who want to encourage their daughters to explore different career paths
🛠 Anyone who believes that hard work, mentorship, and perseverance make all the difference!
