🌿 Second Chances at Shoal Creek

My Newest Manuscript — Coming After The First Grade Chatterbox

by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan

There’s a quiet place nestled beside Shoal Creek—where the water sparkles, the campfires glow, and hearts begin to heal. Second Chances at Shoal Creek is my newest completed manuscript, written with the Holy Spirit’s guidance and the quiet nudging that comes during still moments of prayer and study. It will be illustrated after the release of my next children’s book, The First Grade Chatterbox.

🧺 Synopsis of the Story

Paul arrives at Shoal Creek Campground with more than just his overnight bag. He’s grieving, scared, and adjusting to life in foster care. But God has something waiting for him—a friend named Cooper, a family full of kindness, and a place that feels peaceful.

Through late-night marshmallows, swing-set conversations, and quiet moments by the water, Paul learns that Jesus sees him, hears him, and offers something no one else can: a second chance. His weekend at Shoal Creek ends with something unforgettable—a prayer that changes everything and a baptism that marks the beginning of his brand-new life.

ā¤ļø Themes That Matter:

  • Healing from loss and trauma
  • The power of godly friendship
  • Quiet witness and gentle evangelism
  • Belonging in foster care and in Christ
  • Salvation as a personal and beautiful decision

šŸ–Œļø What’s Next:

Once illustrations for The First Grade Chatterbox are completed, I’ll begin work on bringing Second Chances at Shoal Creek to life visually. My hope is to release it as a beautifully illustrated paperback for families, ministries, and anyone looking to share the message of Jesus’ healing love with the children in their lives. It also has a Reading Guide for Bible study teachers and minister’s to use when teaching this salvation story.

Thank you for praying, cheering, and reading along as God continues to guide each story I write. This one is special. I can’t wait for you to hold it in your hands. Additionally, I would like to thank the owners of Creekside Camp in Florence, Alabama, for inspiring this book during our wonderful week stay during Spring Break ’25.

šŸ“š With joy,
Jennifer Greene-Sullivan
