Praising and Worshiping with my Writing
by Jennifer Greene-Sullivan
This past Thursday and Friday, something shifted in me. As I praised Jesus, I felt a wave of renewal wash over me—a deep, sweet, fervent love that flowed directly into my writing. I didn’t want to stop. I didn’t want to leave His presence. I wanted to live in worship.
In the midst of this outpouring, Chuck the Chick Learns Patience was born.

Yes, it’s a baby and toddler book—my very first! However, it’s more than that. It was created during worship. It came from a place of thanksgiving and joy and intimacy with the Lord. Liam and I sat with crayons, laughter, and praise music playing. It became our offering—a sweet, joyful expression of waiting on the Lord. This book also started with a drawing that Liam did in first grade. He drew the chick, but I named him and gave him a story to experience.
📖 Scripture Inspiration:
- Psalm 27:14 (NIV) – “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
- Romans 8:25 (NIV) – “But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.”
These verses remind me that joy comes in the waiting, not just in the receiving. Chuck learned it the hard way—he hatched too early and missed out on the joy of hatching with his siblings. But by the end, he understood: some things are worth the wait.
And isn’t that true of our walk with Jesus?
🐣 Reflection:
I see now how Chuck the Chick mirrors so much of my own life. I’ve often rushed ahead of God, frustrated by slow seasons or quiet stretches. But in the waiting, there’s growth. In the stillness, there’s worship. From the worship, God brings beautiful things—like Chuck, like growth, like RESTORATION!!
This book is more than a cute story. It’s a reminder that God works in the waiting. That worship is the soil where patience can grow.
📚 Sneak Peek!
Chuck the Chick Learns Patience – A Joyful Praise Project

Over the past few days, the Lord has stirred my heart in a new way. As I praised Him on Thursday and Friday, something inside me unlocked—my worship overflowed, not just in tears or song, but through my writing. That’s when Chuck the Chick was born. While in a posture of thanksgiving and childlike joy, I grabbed onto my love for crayons, Liam’s drawing in hand, and we began crafting our very first book for little ones.
This book isn’t just for toddlers. It’s a reflection of what the Lord has been teaching me too—how to wait with hope, trust, and joyful expectation.
🐥 Sneak Peek: A Glimpse into Chuck’s World
Here are a few moments from Chuck the Chick Learns Patience:
Chuck peeped and peeped again. He wanted out—right now.
Waiting was hard. Chuck the Chick wiggled and wobbled, and then—CRACK!
Young readers will giggle at Chuck’s eager little spirit—and hopefully, little hearts will also begin to grasp the beauty of waiting.
Writing Chuck the Chick Learns Patience wasn’t just a creative outlet—it was an act of worship. It reminded me that our moments of praise can take many forms, from song to story, from quiet prayer to coloring beside our children. As Chuck learns to wait, I’m learning too—to trust God’s perfect timing and to cherish the process. My hope is that this little book blesses families, sparks joy, and plants seeds of faith in the smallest hearts. May we all be reminded that patience is not passive—it is active faith in a faithful God.
🙏 A Prayer:
Father, thank You for meeting me in my worship. Thank You for teaching me patience through the simplest things—even a story for babies. Help me to wait on You with joy and faith. Remind me that even when I don’t see what’s ahead, You are there, shaping something beautiful. Let my praise be constant and my love for You overflow into every creative work You give me. In Jesus’ name, amen.
