A Dedication and a Lifetime of Inspiration

There are people in this world who change us quietly, deeply—without ever asking for recognition. My Nannie, Vonceil Faircloth, is one of those people, and today, I want to honor her in a way that feels long overdue.

She is 93 years young and has been my greatest inspiration for reading, writing, and creativity. When I was a little girl, we would spend hours together—reading stacks of books, coloring pages side by side, and writing little stories just for fun. She always had a hug ready, a milkshake mixed up, and a listening ear waiting just for me.

But her love wasn’t just sweet—it was steady.

When I or my brothers were sick as children and my parents had to work, Nannie was the one who stepped in with kindness, warm blankets, and loving wisdom. And years later, when I became a mother myself, I’d pull into her carport and pass my own sick little ones into her arms—never once hearing a complaint. She showed up for my children the same way she always showed up for me.

She has been my rock, my cheerleader, and my most loyal supporter in every chapter of my life.

So today, it’s my honor to dedicate my very first book for babies and toddlers—Chuck the Chick Learns Patience—to her. 💛

You’ve inspired me to dream and create.
You’ve helped me become the woman and the writer I am. You’ve shaped my faith, my family, and my love for storytelling. Also, it’s ironic I chose a book about patience to dedicate to you. 🙂
